    The Haas VF-7/40 vertical machining center has 84" x 32" x 30" (2134 x 813 x 762 mm) travels and is built utilizing vibration-damping cast-iron components.
    The Haas VF-7/40 is a rugged, large-sized vertical machining center that yields full reliability and accuracy in a large-framed machine. The VF-7/40 has a 40-taper cartridge spindle driven by a 20 hp (14.9 kW) vector drive. The VF-7/40 produces either 75 ft-lb (102 Nm) of torque at a low 1400 rpm, or 250 ft-lb (339 Nm) at 450 rpm with the optional 2-speed gearbox -- and will also run up to 7500 rpm in 1.2 seconds for finishing aluminum.
    The high-productivity features of the new Haas EC-400 HMC include a 32" x 20" x 28" work cube, dual 400 mm pallets, 1-degree indexing, an 80-gallon coolant system and triple-auger chip removal. The standard 8,000-rpm, 40-taper spindle is powered by the Haas 20-hp vector dual drive system; an optional 30-hp, 12K spindle is also available. Both spindles feature an inline, direct-drive system that couples the motor directly to the spindle. This results in less vibration, heat and noise than belt- or gear-driven systems - which means superior surface finishes, excellent thermal stability and quieter operation. A 40+1 side-mount tool changer and 500-ipm cutting feeds are also standard. The Haas control features advanced tool management, single-button features, 15-inch color LCD monitor and a USB port.
